Callcenter Ho-hum: Present-day Racist

At this day and age?

Today I talked to a real Racist.

He called in because he’s a having a problem with his computer. The problem is simple: computer not booting up with BSOD. A very simple problem. He previously called in and a Filipina noted everything about his racist spiels that he also told me in almost the same order or words. Properly rehearsed, maybe.

Troubleshooting started out fine, we ran the hard drive test and finished it. Then, while on our way to the next step he asked me where I was located. I said in the Philippines. Then, he goes on saying that Filipinos don’t know a thing and that he wants to be transfered to his computer’s support department. I said he is in that department. Then he went on saying nasty things about the Filipinos. He then requested to be transfered to Canada. Well, fine, but you will be transfered back to us. He insisted anyway so gave him the hotline number for Canada support. He asked permission, which I appreciated, that he will disconnect from the call. End of story.

After the shift I told my TL about it. Well, she had the experience before and she retorted. That was fine? Well, yeah, she said…if I only knew mister you could have gotten the best of me! I’ll call you back tomorrow…I fucking have your number!

    I can’t really say much about this. I’m just a bit lucky, I guess, coz I haven’t got this type of call yet, or at least not as harsh as it may seem to you, so far. Naka try naka ug prank call, tapos gi record pajud nila (take note, I was taking that call while my TL was sitting next to me)? Imagine that! lami au ipukpuk ang avaya..heheheh

    These racists are mere “little-minded” individuals and should not be deemed superiors! Who are they? They don’t evenn know how to troubleshoot their damn computer for a simple issue. Hahahaha… and they asked support? POOR racists!

    I once got a racist and told him, “use your commom sense!” Call got disconnected and when I checked the logs, he never called back!Good, he might realized his just a dot in this world! Better!

    The saddest part is: despite all the BS we get from the Americans, we still treat them with more respect and kindness than we do our own fellow Filipinos.
    Wherever you go in the Philippines, Americans (and other foreigners, for that matter) always get a higher priority over locals.

    Fortunately, at my company, even the Japanese manager encourages us to say no to our Japanese counterparts when they’re asking too much for our projects. Now that’s the kind of mentality we need as people who often get trampled on.

    @Lance: Good thing you haven’t got this kind of caller. Atay kayo, bai!!!

    @OB: Lesson learned na.

    @Gotdalife: You’re lucky to be working with those people. I’m not. Tsk3

    Oh well. Patience is a really a virtue. I used to take calls for 3 callcenters and each time I encounter racists I make it a point to let them know we’re as competent as our Foreign counters do, if not we’re even better.
