Coldplay ripped Joe Satriana off!(?)

December 18, 2008 Write a Comment Music

Joe Satriani taken from www.satriani.com “I felt like a dagger went right through my heart. It hurt so much,” Joe Satriani says. “The second I heard it, I knew it was [my own] If I Could Fly.”

This is what the master has to say after getting feedback, and hearing, about the similarity of his “If I Could Fly” and Coldplay’s “Viva La Vida.”

What made it extra painful for Satch is that the song “If I Could Fly” was a love letter/song for her wife. Very personal, man.

This is the art of sounding like. To avoid such lawsuit, never use this chord progression C, D, G, Em and get famous. Stay in the middle while earning. You can’t afford to have such lawsuit when you’re famous ’cause someone might want to get their share of the pie.

IMO, Mr. Satch deserves the pie for this one though. See the innocent faces of Coldplay after the jump continue reading…

Reveille Reborn

October 21, 2008 Write a Comment Music

I consider Reveille to be one of the best band in the rock ‘n’ roll world in terms of lyrics. Drew Simmolardes, vocalist/lyricist, is a f*cking genius and Paul Gargano, formerly of Metal Edge, I think, shares this same view on the man. I even had one of Reveille’s lyrics included in my high school’s English class portfolio where we compile our own poems, essays, sketches and other artistic things. So, though I didn’t really enjoyed the second album that much, it was sad to hear this band disband.

So, what in the glass of history am I posting this for? Well, they are reuniting! This is the year for reunions, man! I wish Bush would as well. Do the jump to read the press release for this epic show. continue reading…

Wolfgang’s Villains

The Eraserheads reunion concert will be done and over with tonight. The supposedly FREE concert is pushing through tonight for PHP800 and PHP1300. Marlboro was forced to pullout in their bid to produce the gig by the anti-smoking advocates(Dr. Maricar Limpin and her cronies at the Department of Health). Luckily, somebody’s doing the saving so every eHead may party tonight and I to settle with the DVD release later on.

When the hottest rumor in the local music scene taking place tonight, what’s next?

There’s more for us who were saddened by the old news of Wolfgang taking sleep after the release of Black Mantra! Wolfgang will be releasing their sixth album later this year. Here’s the continue reading…

Ovenfresh Metal Releases

Soulfly - Conquer
Dragonforce - Ultra Beatdown

I’ve been shuffling through this two wonderfully crafted metal for a week now. Both albums hasn’t bored me to slit my wrist yet. That should be a good sign. Last year was a good enough year for metal and I had so much hope for this year with releases that had metalheads shout for fucking joy!

The two albums that I’ve been intently listening to is Conquer from Soulfly and Ultra Beatdown by Dragonforce. Soulfly’s new album is an improvement to their previous release while Dragonforce’s new one is kind of the opposite. Dragonforce slowed down a beat which is not at all bad because the licks on this album are still as great as their former masterpieces. Surprisingly, Soulfly’s Conquer had me put the band back to my favorite metal list. I’ve been a follower of the band since 1998 and I’ve always stayed as a fan but not a very showing fan until this album came out. It took ten years. That long. This two great metal releases will pave the way to many other metal releases this year. They are the cup of tea that makes you pick up the cookie crumble of the other morning’s wake up fix.

Eraserheads Are Back!!!

Eraserheads Reunite August 30
Original image taken from Philmusic.com for the reunion article.

When a rumor is worth millions and somebody is willing to pay for it it will become less of a rumor. And eventually become a reality. This post is not one of those viral things that most blogs are so down with to up their Technorati ranks and all. This post is backed by a post from the olden days’ #1 Philippine music website, Philmusic.com, entitled “The Eraserheads Reunite - And this time, they’re Smokin’.” On that post is a verification of the one-night-only reunion gig of the most influential band in the Philippines, The Eraserheads. This event is said to be sponsored by cigarette giant Marlboro and a whooping 10 million pesos payout for each member(Ely, Raimund, Buddy, Markus) to perform a 45-minute set of Eraserheads classic. continue reading…

Cavalera Conspiracy - Inflikted

April 12, 2008 Write a Comment Music

Cavalera Conspiracy
A new statement after most musicians are garbage? I suppose so but I still believe in art though.

Cavalera Conspiracy is 1/2 Sepultura, 1/2 Soulfly and a part of Gojira. When Igor left Sepultura for family reasons, I’ve been hoping for this project. I don’t care if it’s just for the time being coz I just wanna hear the Cavalera brothers again.

Inflikted is thrash from start to finish. Some might say the b-side of Arise and Chaos A.D. It could be. Only better. Faster. Older.
