Michael Jackson popped out!

June 28, 2009 1 comment Music

RIP: Michael JacksonLearning about his death hinted conspiracy(!) to me. Why? Well, there were tour dates for next month, July, in UK with sold out tickets. “This Is It” was the now prophetic title of the tour. Dates after the jump which, I would assume, will become a series of tribute concerts as a way for the organizers to still make money out of him. We all know Michael Jackson have not performed in the past years due to health issues and the highly publicized scandal.

Maybe because I was too young to get hooked to his music during his prime but the name Michael Jackson always got my respect. Always one of the people, real people, in popular music that I think had faith in their craft and was never afraid to showcase it to anyone.

He may not be a great loss for the music industry in the present but his legacy will always be. Now the world will start missing you, Michael. (Continued…)

Always looked up to the vision of this man. The ever so conscious Filipino that he is.

Faith No More reunites! But only for Europe?

Faith No More

I’d love to see this but why just Europe? My brilliant economist mind told me that it’s the currency, man, the money!

Probably.

For whatever reason, if it’s related to worldwide economic recession, I don’t care. It should be fun to party again with the band who brought “Angel Dust” and “The Real Thing” to the world again.

Dysrhythmia is recording!

Dysrhythmia @ Myspace: Live in NYC. photo by Cedric Victor De Souza

Music nerds that I so fuc king like are recording again! Dysrhythmia got my attention after learning about them from a black and white article on Metal Hammer called “Top 10 Mathcore albums of all time” (Click to see article). The words were swelling noise. Myspace and all other free listening websites weren’t that available during that time but I happen to bump into an illegal community/website(now closed through raid by groups from the recording industry) and downloaded their 2003 cd “Pretest” and that was it, man, the love begun!

Holy f ucking sh it!

Below is the sort-of-a-press-release from the Dysrhythmia’s Myspace blog.

Hey all, so we’re back from our week long trip with touring buddies Tombs. The shows overall were a great time.. Brooklyn, NY and Richmond, VA being the best, in my opinion. Sadly, our van is now dead thanks to this trip, but it was bound to happen anyway.

Today we begin recording our next album here in our own studio Menegroth: The Thousand Caves in Woodhaven Queens, NY. Our very own Colin Marston will be engineering the record. The album will be titled ‘Psychic Maps’ and will feature 6 songs totaling at around 40 minutes. Plans are to have it out via Relapse around June with touring to follow. Cheers!

Music after Ross Robinson got into it

February 16, 2009 Write a Comment Music

I remember us listening to records that ranged from Pantera to The Offspring through my dusty radio/cassette player in our high school classrooms and on the school’s stage. I was into jungle metal with Sepultura. The hottest band though was Korn and Limp Bizkit. This was the age of the nu metal. It was when you’re f ucking out if you’re not fuc king heavy!

Now, after a decade of that maligned genre in music, let’s hear it from the guy who brought the two hottest band on the planet at that time. Click play on the audio track below.

The Mars Volta wins first ever Grammys

February 9, 2009 Write a Comment Music

The title is sufficient enough that it’s unnecessary to type “The Mars Volta wins their first ever Grammys!” anywhere on this post again. But I am one of the lesser who celebrates their win.

The category is for Best Hard Rock Performance for the song “Wax Simulacra” that they triumphed over more established and okay to listen to everyday guys: Judas Priest(Visions), Rob Zombie(Lords Of Salem), Mötley Crüe(Saints Of Los Angeles), and Disturbed(Inside The Fire).

Of Wolves and Boars: Wolfgang Tales

Wolfgang Tales Two Sides Live - March 19, 2009 at Music Museum

The previous post wasn’t anything like that of an April Fools day thing. It’s true that this blog is closed and will remain that way but I pledged my never dying support for the hardest hitting guys – Wolfgang and Razorback – of 90’s local rock scene before the decision was carried out. So…here’s the exception to the closure.

Wolfgang and Razorback will be doing both digital and analog. Both bands will be performing in full gear and acoustic on March 19, 2009. A historic night which will be held at Music Museum.

Ticket prices will be announced! (Continued…)

iTunes saves lives!

Valley of Chrome Now on iTunes
You may now get Valley of Chromes’ Never The Lifeless on iTunes!

I still don’t want to completely forgive iTunes‘ software architecture that deletes media files on your computer when deleting a playlist. More than a year ago my three(3) years worth of music and videos fell victim of this functionality and ever since I have not been using iTunes to manage any of my music or even have it anywhere in my computer.

With the current decision/push of artists to go digital when marketing their music had me reconsidering. Many of local “underground” musicians have shifted to this and I think it’s the better thing to do. Music industry is dying and in a decade or so it will grasp for it’s last breath and die.

Though I much prefer getting the real thing when buying music, Philippine distribution had me shifting to other options to get them. some of those options I even have to give up on the quality just to have a glimpse of the new music.

With this conscious effort of artists to have their music available online is a helper.
