Yeah, a very short post, and I never really did write something very lengthy because I easily get my brains to sway away from the topic.

One notable recent release that you might want to check out is Arcade Fire‘s The Suburbs if you want an easy escape. SEE I swayed.

More and more bands are hitting our shores – always Manila. This time, it’s the Gin Blossoms posting on their Facebook wall that they are indeed coming to the Philippines.

Update (August 04, 2010)

According to GinBlossoms.net’s tour page they will be playing two cities in the Philippines. On November 19 20, 2010 at the Waterfront Hotel and Casino in Cebu City and November 20 18, 2010 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

Below is the screenshot of the tour page while we excitingly wait for the Waterfront to update their events page for the Cebu leg.

This is further confirmed by Scott with a news item from Gin Blossoms official website.

Learning about his death hinted conspiracy(!) to me. Why? Well, there were tour dates for next month, July, in UK with sold out tickets. “This Is It” was the now prophetic title of the tour. Dates after the jump which, I would assume, will become a series of tribute concerts as a way for the organizers to still make money out of him. We all know Michael Jackson have not performed in the past years due to health issues and the highly publicized scandal.

Maybe because I was too young to get hooked to his music during his prime but the name Michael Jackson always got my respect. Always one of the people, real people, in popular music that I think had faith in their craft and was never afraid to showcase it to anyone.

He may not be a great loss for the music industry in the present but his legacy will always be. Now the world will start missing you, Michael.

Again, Nine Inch Nails is to play at the Araneta Coliseum in Manila come August 5 this year!

And, as an added invitation, the band plans on going for hiatus after the tour. That means this could be our only and last chance to see NIN live, Philippines!

I’d love to see this but why just Europe? My brilliant economist mind told me that it’s the currency, man, the money!

Probably.

For whatever reason, if it’s related to worldwide economic recession, I don’t care. It should be fun to party again with the band who brought “Angel Dust” and “The Real Thing” to the world again.

Faith No More has always stood out as some sort of unique beast; part dog, part cat–its music almost as schizophrenic as the personalities of its members. When it all worked, it worked really well, even if the chemistry was always volatile. Throughout our 17years of existence, the mental and physical energy required to sustain this creature was considerable and relentless. Though amicable enough, when we finally split, we all followed paths seemingly destined to opposite ends of the universe.

Yet during the entire 10 years that have passed since our decision to break up we’ve experienced constant rumors and requests from fans and promoters alike. Nevertheless, for whatever reason, none of us kept in regular touch, much less to discuss any possibilities of getting together.

What’s changed is that this year, for the first time, we’ve all decided to sit down together and talk about it. And what we’ve discovered is that time has afforded us enough distance to look back on our years together through a clearer lens and made us realize that through all the hard work, the music still sounds good, and we are beginning to appreciate the fact that we might have actually done something right.

Meanwhile we find ourselves at a moment in time with zero label obligations, still young and strong enough to deliver a kickass set, with enthusiasm to not only revisit our past but possibly add something to the present. And so with this we’ve decided to hold our collective breaths and jump off this cliff….
BACK, GOD FORBID, INTO THE MONKEY CAGE!!!

We can only hope that the experience of playing together again will yield results erratic and unpredictable enough to live up to the legacy of FNM.
Who know where this will end or what it will bring up…only the future knows. But we are about to find out!
