StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
July 20, 2010 Write a Comment Game
StarCraft ruled the 90s much like DOTA now. It was the reason I learned how to cut classes during high school. And it’s still the only multiplayer game that I enjoy save the short time Red Alert took over. I still have StarCraft on my desktop’s hard drive.
Then, finally, the very much anticipated sequel StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty coming out before the month ends (Continued…)
Windows 7 activation helper
November 19, 2009 2 comments Software
Here’s a guide on how to verify license activation status for your Windows 7 installation. Type this little helper on the command prompt:
slmgr.vbs -dlv all
Listed below are the possible license states of your Windows 7 installation:
- Licensed Successful activation.
- Initial Grace Period Default state after installing Windows 7. You will be reminded to activate if you did not set activation automatically.
- Notification When the grace period expires a message will tell you to that reactivation is required.
- Additional Grace Period When Windows 7 thinks its being installed on a new hardware. May happen when a new hardware is added. You’ll need to reactivate license.
- Unknown A problem on the licensing components.
- Unlicensed Plainly says “get a license.”
I got these info during our company’s training way before Windows 7 was made available so comment is highly appreciated for any mistakes.

How to enable “Administrator” account in Vista
June 9, 2009 1 comment SoftwareMessed up a user account in your Windows Vista and the only way to fix the problem is by logging in to the “Administrator” account? Ever wondered how to reveal the hidden administrator account in Windows Vista much like how it is in Windows XP to fix the problem?
Follow these simple steps and reboot your computer to safe mode:
- Click the Start pearl. Click Programs, Accessories.
- Right-click Command Prompt. Choose Run as administrator.
- Click Continue to the UAC prompt if it appears.
- At the prompt, type net user administrator /active:yes and press [Enter]
Easy as pie isn’t it?
But then again, as always, the only truth, when all else fail, you know what to do.

You may now download the Service Pack 2 of Windows Vista through this link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/dd262148.aspx

My Windows 7 RC experience; Ultimate!
March 6, 2009 1 comment SoftwareYesterday, our training team ran out of better things to do and we still got some hours to spare. Our trainer brought in Windows 7 RC (Ultimate) and tried it out on one of the portables that we have in the room.
Installation is almost like that of Windows Vista but one thing that I noticed on the installation screen is the underwater-light-like background. It looks as though it is being done underwater. (Continued…)
Minimize USB usage
February 9, 2009 12 comments SoftwareMy recent trips to internet cafe’s had me to reinstall my operating system – MS Windows XP. F uck! It’s never done that much damage to my system before. I could handle VBscripts plus autoruns with my little buddy – command prompt – before.
Lines such as dir/ah and attrib -r -h -s and shutdown -r used to do the job.
Not anymore!
Script-ers have grown.
I didn’t.
When trying to deal with the infection that started from my handy-dandy flash drive, I noticed that after killing the actual file it could regenerate from the local folders that it’d changed into an exe. So, all of the local folders are now executables and could only be accessed by typing the full location on the address bar. I never wanted to do that forever.
So, I braved my way to system folders such as windows, system, prefetch, and system32 to check for possible residence of the tagged(xim9.exe, iostream.exe, recycler, autorun.inf) files. They did. Did because I, along with my buddy cmd, toasted them.
So I thought.
Because after rebooting the computer, the username that didn’t have a password scored one. There was no way for me to get it. Not even in the safest safe mode.
So the option is to reinstall.
Lessons learned?
- Trust anti-virus softwares because I never had one for 4 years.
- Minimize USB usage on public establishments.
- Backup!
- Never underestimate.
