Gone Home
September 12, 2008 Travels
Pictured are Nick(me), Jon, Harrison, Neil and Bernie. Inset is me and Lola.
This is in continuation of The Great Break of 2008. This is when I finally had the chance to be reunited with my family. It also was the death anniversary of my grandfather, Carlos Dael, so it was a good timing to be in one roof again.
Since we are a simple bunch, having sinugba, bulalo and other handful of home-made cooking is more than enough. I prepared the sinugba myself. Did the marinating and the grilling and the cutting and the presentation. Well, not that no one was available to help but it’s just that I was too proud to do it myself. And my aunt used the same marinate for the extra hot chicken. The whole cooking thing was done before the clock hits the afternoon.
The remaining half of the day was spent devouring everything. Like the rest of the world, the Dael family talked, ate, sang, drunked, danced and everything that jazz until it was time to leave again. It was a fun filled day of reliving the past. There’s nothing more fun to do but be with your roots and share whatever you have in excess at times.
Well, I’m taking my second SIL(Service Incentive Leave, I suppose) to be them again at my Lola’s fiesta. Stay up for that, dudes!
And this pig should be, let’s just say, tasty by then! ![]()
