Not Very Smart, Bro!

My dreaming of Smart Bro was a nightmare. No. I had Smart technicians visit my boardinghouse yesterday to setup my Smart Bro. The service was fast. Fast because I applied, paid for, Sunday afternoon and by Monday noon I received an sms from their technicians saying that I’d be their last for the day. I was happy. I had the thought of downing some bottles of Red Horse after the setup is done. That though didn’t happen.

Smart Bro Smart Bro Wireless Broadband Internet is offered at Plan 999 with a speed of up to 384 kbps. With Smart Bro Plan 999 you get a broadband connection that’s up to 7x faster than dial-up, as well as other Value Added Services for your Smart BRO connection, changing the way you surf the net.

For only P999 per month, you get internet at broadband speed, and more. That means faster downloading of music, better communication with loved ones, and a more fulfilling internet experience.

Smart technicians tried their very best to try to capture the signal from the most visible tower in the area. We could see one from afar and even with the extension ladder that we used to try to align the signal with the receiver had no luck. From the computer, signals were seen but according to the technician these signal have high jitters and if we force setting up the receiver might have them suspended for a week since the signal may only work for at most two(2) days. They had that experience before. An unfair labor rule by such company but that’s just how they maintain quality and I wouldn’t want to complain. So, we, as I was hands-on on the setting up as well, tried almost all possible areas in the rooftop of the boardinghouse. They eventually gave up and dumped my Smart Bro dream to the void.

The line of site method for the signal is not a very good idea for these business so I may have to wait for an update in the engineering or move to a different location.

I’m seriously considering the latter.

This is about the SmartBro 999 that uses the line of sight(LOS) technology. If you are planning to get the one that uses 3G technology I think there’s no problem in that. :)

I have a housemate working for SmartBro and yes Line of Sight is one of the service’s downside. Oh well, there are things we really can’t get that easy.
