My fellow citizens: I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you’ve bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors.

I thank President Bush for his service to our nation — (applause) — as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because we, the people, have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebears and true (Continued…)

Bisdak is a Visayan compound word “Bisayang Dako.” Bisaya is used to refer to people who are from the Visayan region and uses the Visayan language and dako plainly stands for big.

So, what’s with all this bisdak stuff? Why’s a dozen of other blogger blogging with the same entry title? [quarter of a minute pause] You guessed it right! This is worth a million bucks and thanks to SEO Tutorial by Batang Yagit for starting this mini-SEO competition! :)

Not much rules were set but if you are a Bisdak Blogger wanting to join, please see the rules here. The only way to win is to be on top of Google’s SERP for the keywords “Bisdak Blogger.”

Pictured is the late Yoyoy Villame, btw. A Visayan icon. (Continued…)

Sinulog: Afterthoughts of the…

I was drunk during the Sinulog!

Sinulog is one of the most sought after and celebrated event in our country. The little island, Cebu, accomodates both local and and non-local tourists every third weekend of January. This is a religious event to celebrate Sto Niño, little Jesus, but it’s not easy to dismiss that people crowd the city streets only for the dances and movie and television stars and to show off their expensive gizmos. Kudos to those who came with their true faith.

What really gathers people around in heaps for Sinulog?

Party. Party!

Sure little J wants us to have fun and all but being the Jesus that we all grew up and know, he sure won’t support all of the excesses that we do: Overflowing booze in every corner of the city, making laughter a sinful act; Uncontrolled amount of ice cream and sweet, the source of unfounded cravings. Two of the easier excesses to mention.

I have nothing against Sinulog. Nothing really. But it’s just that it’s been overshadowed/eaten by commercialism. Sooner or later, kids who aren’t very conscious will see Sinulog as an event when they could get Nokia’s spank balloons and Sunburst’s party hats and all. Advertising has slowly been killing the spirit of Sinulog.

It’s time to check ourselves before we break ourselves! Relearn what Sinulog is and tell some kids about it so we Pit Senior! the right way next time.

Miss Cebu 2009 Folio

Before everything else. If you haven’t voted for your favorite Miss Cebu 2009 contestant yet, cast that vote now by clicking here. :)

I was at the public library last night for reasons I could not divulge but limme share some behind the scenes before the awaited Miss Cebu 2009 pageant which will be in two days.

There’s no real secret behind it. What goes behind the Cebu City Tourism Council in preparation for Miss Cebu 2009 pageant are mouths over mouths. People talking, bashing and shoving blames to why things aren’t done yet. They’re getting it on for the deadlines.

It was just bonus to see one-half of the contestants inside the room. They’re real tall and skinny and sexy and, (Continued…)

iTunes saves lives!

Valley of Chrome Now on iTunes
You may now get Valley of Chromes’ Never The Lifeless on iTunes!

I still don’t want to completely forgive iTunes‘ software architecture that deletes media files on your computer when deleting a playlist. More than a year ago my three(3) years worth of music and videos fell victim of this functionality and ever since I have not been using iTunes to manage any of my music or even have it anywhere in my computer.

With the current decision/push of artists to go digital when marketing their music had me reconsidering. Many of local “underground” musicians have shifted to this and I think it’s the better thing to do. Music industry is dying and in a decade or so it will grasp for it’s last breath and die.

Though I much prefer getting the real thing when buying music, Philippine distribution had me shifting to other options to get them. some of those options I even have to give up on the quality just to have a glimpse of the new music.

With this conscious effort of artists to have their music available online is a helper.

Sinulog Photo 2008

A kid’s Sinulog 2008 moment that we, I and V, captured and immortalized. The two kids posed for our partly drenched point-shoot camera but focus was tweaked by people pushing people at the back to get closest to the performers.

Plan your Sinulog 2009 celebration by going over the Sinulog 2009 events and schedules after the jump. The information below were taken from Sinulog.ph (Continued…)
