Give me 5ive!
2 comments EventsAfter maybe about two years of not meeting my brothers in rock, I was notified of the plan to do an anniversary gig for All Mixed Up (AMU) through Facebook’s IM. Without much thinking, because it doesn’t necessarily need that, I counted myself in. The backbone of the reunion/anniversary is the number 5. It’s been five years since the conception of AMU!
For the uninitiated, AMU is an independent Cebu-based gig organizers/producers run by college students. The goal is for us to be together in a night or rock ‘n’ roll and free beer but it’s really about providing venue for starters who don’t always get the chance to play on the more commercialized gigz and guesting established local bands. We’ve had Smooth Friction, Twinkle Dudu among other acts to grace our stage over the years.
The 2009 anniversary gig was entitled “GIVE ME FIVE!” to celebrate AMU’s fifth year. See online flyer below for more info:
On the night of November 28, 2009 smiles and high fives filled the air of SoundLounge – the bar at the back of Bo’s Coffee Capitol area. It, so far, had the best sounding drum kit and bigger and better amps and speakers. Manning the console is the owner of the bar. Thanks, Sean(possible spelling), my ear was still sonically reverberating even after hours since I disappeared from the venue to catch the next bus ride home.
The bands delivered. The place was packed. Thanks to those who came and partied with the old boys, and to those who didn’t maybe next time.
Cebu Guitar Festival 2009
2 comments EventsI’ll attend the Cebu Guitar Festival 2009 discretely tonight because my work starts at 10:00PM.
If there’s one thing that I’m required to mention about guitars it’s its glassy twangs and totally distorted buzzes. It’s clean or dirty for me.
See you there – in the Nick of time!

Happened to catch Sheila and the Insects and the blues collective(allow me to use this as I’m not really that familiar with them yet) who both played great sets. The perfect partner of The Outpost’s perfectly cold Red Horse.
Won’t be able to catch the outdoor setup of the Cebu Guitar Festival 2009 later tonight as I’ll be in Sibulan to spend time with my wife and our son who’ll be out of her mom’s nourishing body before the end of December or early January. Did some stuff buying myself.
Bought votes!
2 comments Short On IdeasPoliticians now win elections by being their parent’s kid. An easy investment but an expensive one. It means sending them kids to well-known universities abroad. Add more color and depth to their CV. Them who brings new world ideas to a stagnant third world country. With the backing of the masa tax it’s easy. The money that should have been invested on reforming barren lands for housing and utilizing enriched lands for growing crops but we kept sowing bad seeds, always, and grow crap instead.
Jose Rizals’ kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan is true here. Them kids, you know. We are funding our future’s leaders. Not bad for an idea until idea itself lost its meaning. By sending these kids to the new world they start to grow. They learn to become a property of the brave new world. Our maya learns it’s cooler to fly in the width of an eagle. They become the insatiable prey for new age ambitions. They don’t understand how it is to dream big because they’ve become bigger. They’ve grown and flew and dusted the old dusts away.
Come elections, how about we line our vision with a leader who dreams like us. Build together. No radical minds just plain old walk on a flat planet before our educated heads started to understand how the world goes round and around still thinking that we’d be on top. That will never happen not in our lifetime or maybe not after all.
Let’s skew the earth a bit and take control.
The Plaza Housing Gazette

Here’s an about them snippet:
This site is not a legitimate news source. Do not come suing us because we’re obviously not mentally capable of comprehending as much as a friendly email from a close relative, least of all “legal documents” and crap like that. And even if you tried, you’ll never get us ‘coz you have no idea who and where we really are, and, that aside, we’re also mentally incapable of comprehending “IP address tracing” and that kind of shit.
None of this is true. None of it is “fictionalized” either. These are blatant lies! Or alternative truths depending on which side of the escapism spectrum you lie (pun unintended) on.
Windows 7 activation helper

Here’s a guide on how to verify license activation status for your Windows 7 installation. Type this little helper on the command prompt:
slmgr.vbs -dlv all
Listed below are the possible license states of your Windows 7 installation:
- Licensed Successful activation.
- Initial Grace Period Default state after installing Windows 7. You will be reminded to activate if you did not set activation automatically.
- Notification When the grace period expires a message will tell you to that reactivation is required.
- Additional Grace Period When Windows 7 thinks its being installed on a new hardware. May happen when a new hardware is added. You’ll need to reactivate license.
- Unknown A problem on the licensing components.
- Unlicensed Plainly says “get a license.”
I got these info during our company’s training way before Windows 7 was made available so comment is highly appreciated for any mistakes.
Death by books

Are you one of the busy heads who cant build images with their heads?
Finishing a 200-page book/novel in a week is not my talent. And I don’t always get it. Meaning understanding what the book is all about. So breathing in real life when pausing in between reading is to help my little mind to get it. That’s how I keep my interest on written things alive – it stirs the neurons out of me.
So, I’m asking you, how do you keep the flame?
Or, are you, at this day of high-definition TVs and high-speed internet, the busy head who thinks that books are dead? (Books here are either printed or electronic)
Flushing you out!
Comments Short On IdeasNegros Oriental Buglasan festival was supposedly aimed at boosting local tourism. Provincial or city officials moved it to an area called Sidlakang Negros which is not very accessible and not well arranged as opposed to it’s previous venue at the Provincial Capitol Area two years ago. I was their scouting for flyers for any local tourism spots. Because I was interested in trying out new stuff as we all are but none of that was available and asking the people in the respective town’s booths did not help either. So, what is wrong here? Everything is but count out the mouth drenching dalupapa(giant squid) BBQs.
I don’t know if I’m the only one who thinks that the new Cebu South Bus Terminal(CSBT) is nothing but a money making ploy. I use the terminal every weekend – I travel from Cebu city to Liloan where I take the 20-minute sea trip back to Sibulan, Negros Oriental. Using the new terminal is a total hassle and I have to pay five (5) bucks to get in. Yeah, you got your little TVs and reconditioned ACs but that’s not why I go to the terminal for. I need to travel and providing this little comfort, which is not at all completely that, is not helping. I’m not paying just to get to my designated bus the same way as how it was before.
Last week, I took a photo of this guy in the counter, where everyone queues up to get their PRIORITY tickets, and this is still about the new CSBT, he was wearing over-sized and glittering gold things around his neck, wrists and even his shinny black shades that is very hard to ignore. I shown the photo to my wife and she told me that it was the brother of Gwen. Oh, the new Cebu South Bus Terminal big BOSS he was. Making sure everything is in order, eh?
Lamb Of God’s Sacrament album cover was used by our local church’s projectionist. I don’t know if it was intentional or just an honest google-ing mistake. I have to point it out to my wife the moment I saw it. I was intently listening to the reading when this happened. Last note, be careful of what you search for.
There you go, friends, just some things that needed flushing.
To the Heartless
Comments Grrrievance
That’s a set of Coleman camp pads donated by Japan for the typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng victims that never reached the victims. Somebody is trying to hold up the relief goods!
The following links will tell you more about it:
To the Heartless, you know who you are, there’s a place for you!
UPDATE: Very much like the patched zombie, the Heartless was hit by a life-giving spark from the sky on Oct 23 2009. DSWD’s Sec. Cabral now wants volunteers to repack the relief goods, posted through Gang Badoy’s Multiply account.
Blog Action Day 2009: Climate Change
2 comments EventsEvery October 15 of every year, bloggers worldwide discuss a single topic of global importance. This year it is Climate Change.
I used to play basketball on an uncovered court during my elementary school days. On a high noon as that’s the only time when kids have the premise over grown-ups. The sun wasn’t that hot to boil our blood. And the air was soothing and cool.
I don’t think kids today will ever enjoy the sun the way we did before.
It’s hot now. Very hot!
Something is wrong. And we are perpetually doing so.
Help preserve our oneness with nature so we wont have to build armors to live in this harsh environment that one day we might just come refer to as our home.
Take care is not just something we give to our friends and lovers – Earth badly needs it too.
