Ovenfresh Metal Releases
July 31, 2008 Write a Comment MusicI’ve been shuffling through this two wonderfully crafted metal for a week now. Both albums hasn’t bored me to slit my wrist yet. That should be a good sign. Last year was a good enough year for metal and I had so much hope for this year with releases that had metalheads shout for fucking joy!
The two albums that I’ve been intently listening to is Conquer from Soulfly and Ultra Beatdown by Dragonforce. Soulfly’s new album is an improvement to their previous release while Dragonforce’s new one is kind of the opposite. Dragonforce slowed down a beat which is not at all bad because the licks on this album are still as great as their former masterpieces. Surprisingly, Soulfly’s Conquer had me put the band back to my favorite metal list. I’ve been a follower of the band since 1998 and I’ve always stayed as a fan but not a very showing fan until this album came out. It took ten years. That long. This two great metal releases will pave the way to many other metal releases this year. They are the cup of tea that makes you pick up the cookie crumble of the other morning’s wake up fix.
Removing Autorun Entries and Processes on Computer
July 28, 2008 Write a Comment FixI’ve lost my faith in the plug-n-play stuff! Why? I always get these autorun garbage that always alters the computer’s functionality. It disables the explore ability of flash drives including those of expensive mp3/mp4 players and most may not notice that it actually slows down their computer and their gadget’s life is shortened as well. The enability of showing hidden files and the disappearance Folder Options in explorer is most noticeable. If only antivirus softwares can remove them!
This fix will remove those autorun entries and processes from your computer and gadgets. It’s very simple and I have screen shots to aid. See the screenshots and the how to after the jump. continue reading…
Sundays at Golden Cowrie
July 21, 2008 Write a Comment Food
Golden Cowrie is a native restaurant along Salinas Drive, Lahug, Cebu City. Owned and operated by Cebu Golden Restaurant, Inc.
It’s Sunday and have nothing to look forward to, since I’m missing Batman, but everyone’s hell - Monday! While the wallet hasn’t been emptied by the many wants that you can ever think of, V and I went to Golden Cowrie to have a taste of what the restaurant has to offer. I got myself a regular crispy pata, my first mammalian intake, after I posted an entry about not getting any (Read here). It was manageable and it happened to not taste bitter - how pork meat usually does when done this way. The baked scallops is very cheesy to both our tongues so doused it with a bit of vinegar. Every Filipinos’ favorite dinuguan never failed to inspire Filipino spirit!
We needed to take out the rest of the crispy pata because we later found out that the bottomless digestive organ that we thought we had was totally filed up. No rice scarcity here! continue reading…
XAMPP: Safeguarding phpMyAdmin
July 21, 2008 Write a Comment TutorialsThis is how PHPMyAdmin looks on first loading after installing XAMPP for Windows. Notice the alert message on the screenshot yellow box with red border. The message basically says you’ll soon be butt baked. So, following the simple installation of XAMPP into your computer I am discussing the way I protect my database.

Click on the Privileges (Use the image above as reference). The password field for user root is empty thus making your database open to anyone who knows what they’re doing. continue reading…
Installing XAMPP for Windows
July 21, 2008 Write a Comment Tutorials
This tutorial series was inspired by the recent operating system reinstallation on my computer. It’s a way for me of keeping my sanity during the whole ordeal of putting everything back.
With the advent of Wordpress and Blogspot among other platforms that makes it easy for anyone, who at least knows how to use Friendster, get their hands in the dirty world of webmastering. The fun of individuality has been drowned by the oh so good looking free templates. I missed the days when it was still an individual’s struggle to make the internet look good.
Learning how everything works should, at least, help promote appreciation for the blood, sweat and tears of what created the current comfort. My tutorial on how to install XAMPP for Windows will help netizens appreciate the beauty of DIY again and should be the kick off of the series of webdevelopment tutorials.
After reading this tutorial, aided by other online readings, should help give the internet a new skin and brain. Do this tutorial today and come back tomorrow for further webmastering chuts! Next is safeguarding of phpMyAdmin where all textual and even graphical data are stored for use in your spanking website. continue reading…
Visayas Bloggers joins MBM 2008 Presscon
July 19, 2008 4 comments Meetings
Snatched these during the presscon.
The second meetup, my first, of the Visayas Bloggers was during the Mandaue Business Month 2008 Press Conference at Cebu City Sports last July 15, 2008. The short yet alive presscon was attended by prominent politicians and entrepreneurs of Cebu. The event presented to the media the plans for the celebration of the 17th Visayas Area Business Conference which will be hosted by the city of Mandaue. You may visit the official website of Mandaue Chamber for more updates and information on the online contests that are open to anyone by clicking here.
I never thought Gwen Garcia was such a witty woman. Funny at times and succinct enough when delivering her message. Cebu must be pretty proud to have her. Mandaue city’s Mayor Cortes must have come from the same school of thought as my teacher in IT21, the class that changed my life forever, when he gave the story of the two employees to ponder upon. Ng Khai’s Wilson Ng’s secret to success is definitely lots of smiles - the guy was so full of that during the event. Thanks for inviting us! continue reading…
Eraserheads Are Back!!!

Original image taken from Philmusic.com for the reunion article.
When a rumor is worth millions and somebody is willing to pay for it it will become less of a rumor. And eventually become a reality. This post is not one of those viral things that most blogs are so down with to up their Technorati ranks and all. This post is backed by a post from the olden days’ #1 Philippine music website, Philmusic.com, entitled “The Eraserheads Reunite - And this time, they’re Smokin’.” On that post is a verification of the one-night-only reunion gig of the most influential band in the Philippines, The Eraserheads. This event is said to be sponsored by cigarette giant Marlboro and a whooping 10 million pesos payout for each member(Ely, Raimund, Buddy, Markus) to perform a 45-minute set of Eraserheads classic. continue reading…
Gwen To Meet With Cebu and Visayas Bloggers
July 13, 2008 2 comments Meetings
Cebu city’s Governor Gwen Garcia will be meeting with Cebu and Visayas bloggers in a press conference which is slated on Tuesday, July 15, 2008, 11:00AM at the Cebu City Sports Club.
I first learned about this from OQ which was later hammered to shape by my joining the Cebu and Visayas Bloggers’ Google group.
Possible topics, the way I see it fit, that may be brought up during the conference is the empowering of bloggers to do reviews of the various services of the businesses around Cebu city and the province. Opportunity for Cebuano bloggers to help promote tourism, local music scene among other countless fields that may be covered by blogging with acknowledgment. continue reading…
