Death by books

Are you one of the busy heads who cant build images with their heads?
Finishing a 200-page book/novel in a week is not my talent. And I don’t always get it. Meaning understanding what the book is all about. So breathing in real life when pausing in between reading is to help my little mind to get it. That’s how I keep my interest on written things alive – it stirs the neurons out of me.
So, I’m asking you, how do you keep the flame?
Or, are you, at this day of high-definition TVs and high-speed internet, the busy head who thinks that books are dead? (Books here are either printed or electronic)

The Great Philippine Book Blockade of 2009

I wanted something to get my cool back about my next door neighbor blasting morning talk shows and Tagalog-dubbed-anime crap on the TV everyday! Whole day! It’s become a routine that in a couple of days I’ve been forever pissed! Blaring thrash music back, with its blast beats and shotguns and growls and screams and what not, is a no go.
Needed something to put away the negative tide that building in me. So I decided to pick up a good book to read. That eventually added sadness to the wanting-to-rush feeling that I tried to control. Why so?

A Christmas Waitlist

Everybody’s doing their Christmas wishlist. I am not doing that here. Instead, I will be listing the things that I’d probably be doing while wating for Christmas. Some very obvious human necessities like eating and drinking will not be mentioned.
- I would try to distance myself from alcohol.
- Finish reading Hocus Pocus by Kurt Vonnegut. I have been reading it very slowly for almost a year now because I don’t want to get through it yet.
- I finally bought George Orwell’s 1984. Should be next if I feel like finishing the latter.
- Ok, gimme alcohol, man!
- Cut cable TV and throw in The Simpsons DVD.
- Maybe do some more reading with Tom Robbins’ Even Cowgirls Get The Blues.
- Yesh! Alcohol somemow and some excess fruitcake.
