Philippine Peso to U.S. Dollar Exchange Rate

November 23, 2008 3 comments Money

I’ve never been very concerned with money and exchange rates the whole of my life until now that I am working for a BPO company. My family doesn’t practice money remittance because we are an average Filipino middle class family who earns and spends money. We don’t do business. We never made money work for us as what my bootlegged audio book of “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” is telling me to do with no apparent advice at all on how to do it.

This post is not about dissing the book or related to it in anyway. It just occured to me. This will be my first Christmas working. I’ve always been a student and a tambay. What got me to posting about money and creating a category on this blog called Money is because the company won’t be having any Christmas party. This is what’s been circulating on the floor and when talks like this entertained usually is true.

But so much for this wish of mine to enjoy a Christmas party that I normally would just get drunk on to, the fact that the trend on the strength of our currency is going down defined sadness in my face. Weird but I cared.

It could only be us. This is Philippines, man. We can’t make what we have to last and stay. And yet we are against divorce. Huh? Im losing cohesiveness again. Allow me to get something to munch on.

Peso to Dollar exchange rate hits forty four(44) to one(1) today. Good job to Mrs. President because this strength in the currency should be credited to her recent visit to the US and not the recent win of boxing superstar Manny Pacquiao. Be it that or both, the same sentiments remain in the heart of every Filipinos. Price of gasoline and rice still continues to grow. Fare rates are still on every driver’s platforms and rice hoarders still party as hard!

The thing here is however the Philippine peso in strengthened in just a very short span of time won’t be felt by any Filipino. If our government could not stabilize any factor on its functions we will continue to feel irrelevant. Our clinched fisted (Continued…)
