Windows 7 activation helper
November 19, 2009 2 comments Software
Here’s a guide on how to verify license activation status for your Windows 7 installation. Type this little helper on the command prompt:
slmgr.vbs -dlv all
Listed below are the possible license states of your Windows 7 installation:
- Licensed Successful activation.
- Initial Grace Period Default state after installing Windows 7. You will be reminded to activate if you did not set activation automatically.
- Notification When the grace period expires a message will tell you to that reactivation is required.
- Additional Grace Period When Windows 7 thinks its being installed on a new hardware. May happen when a new hardware is added. You’ll need to reactivate license.
- Unknown A problem on the licensing components.
- Unlicensed Plainly says “get a license.”
I got these info during our company’s training way before Windows 7 was made available so comment is highly appreciated for any mistakes.
